FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Typically, we will meet once per week, however, every client and their journey is different. Let’s talk to see what may work best for you!
Active and retired members of law enforcement and military are eligible for the discounted rate. This includes, but isn’t limited to, police officers, sheriff’s deputies, veterans, and active-duty military personnel.
Not sure if you qualify? Just reach out—I'm happy to help clarify.
HOW LONG ARE YOUR SESSIONS?
A typical therapeutic session is 50 minutes. We will begin to wrap up around 45 minutes so we can talk about goals for the week and schedule our next session. If you are having a particularly bad day or week and need to talk before your next scheduled session, you may request an “emergency” check in that will be honored within 24 hours of the request.

TELL ME MORE ABOUT WALK & TALK THERAPY!
Trusting someone outside your inner circle is scary. Since 2001 I have worked to develop a deeper understanding of the unique challenges and stressors that first responders face. Although I have never been a first responder, my experience has helped me gain knowledge to successfully support those who are or have been. I have an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice, completed a 350 hour internship with a local police department, attended numerous ride-alongs in 3 different states and also have first-hand experience as a LEO wife. I am a Certified First Responder Counselor (CFRC) and have a true passion for helping those who put their lives on the line every day.
WHY DON'T YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
I love this form of therapy, and have found that it works great for all ages, especially those who struggle with anxiety or have a difficult time with restlessness. For many, physical activity is known to have a positive impact on mental health. After a walk & talk session, clients leave feeling refreshed and energized. With this form of therapy, we meet in a location mutually agreed upon, usually a park or walking trail. Some concerns may include confidentiality as we may be seen together by someone you know, or that our conversation may be overhead. Prior to our first walk & talk session, we will review these scenarios and how to handle them, should they arise. Curious to hear more and if this is a right fit for you? Contact me!
WHAT DAYS AND TIMES ARE YOU AVAILABLE?
I'M A FIRST RESPONDER - HOW DO I KNOW YOU'LL GET ME?
I like to call my business hours flexible. I offer sessions 7 days a week, and while my availability shifts week to week, I make space for daytime, evening, and weekend appointments to keep therapy accessible—whether you work a 9–5, nights, or something in between. No matter what your version of “normal hours” looks like, we’ll find a time that works for you.
WHAT AGES DO YOU WORK WITH?
YES! Your confidentiality is of the upmost importance to me so that you feel safe and secure while you share your experiences with me. There are exceptions to this rule, however. I will only break confidentiality if:
You want to hurt yourself or someone else.
There is abuse or suspected abuse of a child (under the age of 18), an elderly person, and/or a person with a disability.
I am subpoenaed for specific information.

I THINK I'M READY TO START MY JOURNEY, WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT?
DO I HAVE TO LIVE IN FRANKLIN TO MEET WITH YOU?
Nope! As a Tennessee-licensed therapist, I can work with anyone who lives in the state. Since all sessions are virtual, you can live anywhere in the state. No matter where you are, therapy comes to you.
And if you're a coaching client, you don’t even have to live in Tennessee. Coaching services are available to clients across the U.S.
I believe that the therapeutic relationship should remain between the clinician and the client. When insurance companies get involved, a mental health diagnosis is required, which may become part of your permanent medical record. This can be stigmatizing and create issues getting treatment in the future. Additionally, insurance may mandate a specific intervention or only allow a certain number of sessions. By not accepting insurance, we can work together to determine the best treatment approach for you, with the type and length of sessions needed.
With that being said, I am happy to provide a superbill should you make the choice to submit for reimbursement. I would encourage you to call your insurance company to see if you have "out of network" benefits.
